Castelvecchio Courtyard Roof

Project Overview

Integral structural design of a steel-framed roof covering the inner courtyard of a historic building, creating a functional and protected space while preserving the architectural value of the site. The solution pairs the original masonry walls with a lightweight modern structure based on a MERO-type system with spherical node connections. Particular attention was paid to optimising the modular grid, to load distribution and to the verification of deformation limits, ensuring both structural safety and architectural integration.
