Traditional Earthen Buildings, Taroudant
Taroudant, Morocco · 2024
Project Overview
Following the earthquake that struck the mountainous Atlas regions, technical interventions were carried out on existing buildings in traditional earth and stone masonry presenting structural damage that remained repairable. The aim was to concentrate action on existing heritage that could be rehabilitated, in a context where specialised expertise for this type of construction remains limited. In partnership with Miyamoto International, the work focused on analysing structural behaviour, identifying degradation mechanisms and defining repair and strengthening solutions compatible with local building techniques, covering diagnosis, design of interventions and works supervision to durably secure the structures and reinforce the resilience of local communities.
