Mameli School Seismic Retrofit

Project Overview

Seismic upgrade of the existing Mameli school structure, designed to be carried out entirely from the outside in order to limit the impact on interior spaces and school activity. An external steel exoskeleton reduces seismic demand on the reinforced-concrete load-bearing elements and controls the building's global displacements, raising its seismic performance to that of a new structure. The main challenge lay in integrating the new steel elements with the existing structures and foundations, achieving a complete structural requalification.
